Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient comfort throughout the process. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, patient care, and safety protocols to support accurate diagnostic testing and optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using proper aseptic techniques
- Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory analysis
- Ensure proper handling, processing, and transportation of specimens according to protocol
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed during patient interactions
- Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards and safety procedures
- Document all procedures accurately within electronic health records or paper charts
- Assist with specimen processing, including centrifugation and storage when necessary
- Follow laboratory policies related to specimen integrity, confidentiality, and quality assurance
Qualifications
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, laboratory techniques, or clinical laboratory experience preferred
- Certification or training in phlebotomy is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to blood sampling and patient care
- Strong skills in venipuncture, blood sampling, and maintaining aseptic technique
- Experience with hospital or healthcare facility settings is a plus
- Excellent communication skills for providing compassionate patient service and explaining procedures clearly
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of safety standards related to specimen collection and handling
