Under general supervision, providing a variety clerical duties in support of the department.

Responsibilities - 1. Acts as receptionist, greeting and interacting with patients, visitors and others.
- 1.1 Greets all patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- 2. Performs various unit clerical tasks including mailing, messages, record-keeping, typing, and filing.
- 2.1 Distributes mail, utilizes paging system, takes and delivers messages for unit personnel
- 3. Handles patient appointment system.
- 3.1 Schedules patient appointments in coordination with the clinical staff.
- 4. Interacts with all others in a manner consistent with excellent hospital public relations.
- 4.1 Demonstrates professional and courteous manner during interactions with patients, hospital staff, physicians and their office staff, and with all other contacts.
- 5. Cleanliness and safety.
- 5.1 Maintains safe, clean, and organized environment in all clerical areas.
- 6. Patients' Rights.
- 6.1 Respects patients' rights at all times identified within the institution.
- 7. Supplies/ordering, errands.
- 7.1 Assists in maintaining supplies at appropriate inventory levels.

- 8.1 Performs efficiently in emergency situations as directed.

- 9.1 Appropriately seeks information or assistance from administrator, or other resource people.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) to Two (2) years administrative clerical experience preferably in a patient care environment- or- current active YNHHS internal experience covering Business Associate/ Unit Associate responsibilities. Prior computer usage strongly preferred.

Additional Information SLA5/Main 5 is a 22-bed unit. The unit is a general medicine unit, divided into two sections:
SLA 5 section has a total of 16 medicine beds and Main 5 side has 6 Palliative Care (CMO) beds.
The patient to nurse ratio is 4-5:1
SLA5 patients cared for have a variety of medicine issues, including kidney diseases, and our nursing staff is specialized in performing peritoneal dialysis (CAPD)
Nurses treat patients with a variety of disease processes and will be exposed to many critical skills moving nurses from Novice to Experts in their career paths.
Main 5 side was transformed into a beautiful Palliative Care unit where we take end of life patients from all over the hospital and provide them, as well as their families, with specialized, compassionate care during the most difficult and vulnerable times in their lives.
SLA5/Main 5 nurses work very well together, and we take pride in fostering the culture of positivity and teamwork which enhances staff morale.
SLA5/Main 5 is serviced by an IV team as well as a Phlebotomy team; both of which allow the RN time back in her shift for patient care.
THIS POSITION IS COVERED BY THE TEAMSTERS COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
Minimum - $15.69/hr.
Maximum - $26.95/hr.
